Program Overview

The Childcare Collaboration was formed in 2021 as a result of an identified need for certified individuals who could provide reliable childcare for foster parents. These are individuals in our community who provide needed breaks that help foster parents foster longer and better!

 Childcare Collaborative FAQs

  • You must be at least 21 years old.

  • Yes! You can choose whether you prefer to babysit in your home, the foster home, or both.

  • The majority of the process is self-paced, so you can decide how fast you move through the process. The exception is that a few parts of the process (i.e. background check) might be expected to take a little longer.

  • Absolutely! You would choose to become certified through the same agency they are licensed with to foster.

  • The cost is shared with Foster Love Bell County. FLBC will cover the cost of CPR training, but the applicant is responsible for covering a $30 application fee & the cost of fingerprinting (usually $38.25).

  • If you’ve already completed training (such as a CPR certification), FLBC will review the document and ensure it meets the requirement.

  • You will upload documents in the application. These documents will then be shared with the agency of your choice so they can run your background check.

  • If you choose to babysit for a foster family, you may serve in a one-on-one setting. You will also have opportunities to serve at group events such as Foster Support Group Sessions & Foster Interest Meetings!

  • You can always contact Foster Love Bell County’s Community Coordinator, Sariah Winkler, LMSW, with any questions.
