Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteer team is made up of people who are dedicated to making a real difference in the Bell County Foster Care System. Each volunteer brings unique talents and gifts, while also being able to build relationships with other individuals who share the same desire to serve. #Everyonecandosomething

  • This volunteer will be able to give needed breaks to foster families by providing occasional babysitting services for up to 72 hours through our Childcare Collaborative. This could include, but is not limited to, providing childcare for Foster Support Group, Foster Interest Meetings, and for local foster families. Our babysitters will provide these services based on their own availability and will be connected directly with foster families in need of services. This volunteer must complete the FLBC Childcare Collaborative Certification which includes background check, fingerprinting, TB Test, CPR, and Trauma-informed Training. This would be ideal for a volunteer needing flexible hours who would like to build relationships directly with parents and kids in the foster community!

    Must be 21+ to get certified.

  • This volunteer will serve at the Foster Love House for 2 hours weekly on a specific day. Volunteering involves house cleanup, filling Love Closet requests, setting up for groups/events, helping with projects, etc. This person must be flexible, friendly, confidential, and reliable. This is a position that doesn’t work directly with children as children staying at the Foster Love House are under CPS custody, but will be doing tasks that directly affect the foster community. This volunteer will attend Annual Volunteer Training, has a completed background check on file, and has signed the DFPS Confidentiality Agreement. This would be ideal for a someone who would enjoy having a specific schedule and wants to help us serve the foster community at the Foster Love House. Available shifts are 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 1 - 3 p.m.

    Weekly volunteers must be 18 or older.

  • This volunteer should be available to serve during events over the year. This includes monthly Love Awards, Foster Community Appreciation (March), Summer Goodness Bag Prep (May), Santa Event (July), Haircare Clinic (August), Fall Goodness Bag Prep (October), and Christmas Events (December). This volunteer would need to have completed a background check and a signed DFPS Confidentiality Agreement on file. This would be ideal for a someone who cannot commit to serving 2 hours a week like a House Volunteer, but wants to serve the foster community throughout the year.

    Must be 18+

    Teens 12+ interested in serving must be accompanied by an adult.

  • This volunteer will be available to cook meals during our weekly Foster Support Group for Fall and Spring semesters (6 weeks each). This volunteer can cook at home or at the Foster Love House. We will have a sign-up for volunteers to pick the weeks that will work with their schedule. This would be ideal for a volunteer that needs autonomy and wants to serve local families.

    Must be 18+

    12+ must be serving alongside an adult supervisor.

  • This volunteer would be available to pray for requests sent in to Foster Love, as needed. They must be able to use the GroupMe app to view prayer requests. This would be ideal for a volunteer who is available virtually and wants to actively pray for those experiencing all kinds of issues within the child welfare system.

  • This volunteer opportunity is so much fun! We need people looking to provide customized gifts to celebrate a birthday, adoption, graduation, or reunification. Communication about gift requests are posted monthly on Celebration Box Facebook Page.

  • This volunteer opportunity takes the literal “cake”!

    Are you a baker? Professional or amateur, Foster Love Bakes needs you to help with Celebration Box cakes.

    Our Celebration Box program provides everything needed for a party including gifts, decorations and cakes to kids in the foster system. It’s like a little party to go!

    The cake requests are posted on the Foster Love Bakes Facebook Page throughout the month. Volunteer bakers can sign up to create a specific themed cake, deliver it to Foster Love where caseworkers deliver is directly to kids!

  • This team of volunteers would be the first to know when items in the Love Closet get critically low. We will update the Love Closet Amazon Wish List so that this team of volunteers can donate these items in real-time, straight off the list. This would be great job for a volunteer who wants the flexibility of getting requests via email and making donations to the Love Closet , as needed.

Internships

Internships at Foster Love can be a very unique learning situation for any college student looking for experience in the Nonprofit, Social Work and Christian Studies fields of study. If you are interested in pursuing an internship at Foster Love, please view and apply.

Whether you are working with our team on one of our many programs, learning how to communicate with those from hard places or helping to develop resources, there’s so much to learn. You will be challenged in the many facets of nonprofit work and there is always more to do. If you are looking for a place where you can make a difference, we would love to talk with you.

    Currently we are looking for an 8 week+ commitment with a minimum of 120 hours. We will work with most schedules, whenever possible and can be flexible with areas of focus.
